About this Survey
We run two surveys: a short one that covers all of Angular, and an extended one that dives deep into specifics. The community response is always huge. We typically receive more than 25k responses for the short survey, and more than 5k for the extended survey.
We listen to what developers care about and measure happiness. Developers love to share freely. Across all of the subprojects that we survey, we’ve collected lots of perspectives — with over 7k written responses.
Developer Priorities
Our main survey asks developers to rank various attributes, and we saw these priorities stay relatively stable between 2018 and 2019.
Based on the rankings from 2018, we determined that Runtime Performance is most important overall based on weighted selections.

But this stat contrasts with 30.4% ranking Documentation as their #1 feature, but only 22.6% of developers ranking Runtime Performance as their #1.

In the 2019 survey, New Features slightly overtook Ease of Updates as most important by weighted ranking, but the other rankings stayed the same.
Feedback
We also review the free-form responses in depth. Looking across the entire data set, we can highlight several topics that Angular developers say are top of mind.
- Documentation
- Examples
- Components
- Support
- Features
- Easier
- Performance
More Insights
After we complete the 2020 survey, we’ll analyze the results and will share more about what we’ve learned — and the ways that we’ll respond to your needs.
We’re starting on version 10, and planning for version 11. Now is a great chance to speak up and be heard!
